GETTING TO KNOW THE FACE BEHIND THE VISION!!!!

Everyone has a mountain to climb, and autism has not been my mountain, it has been my opportunity for victory.“

My love for teaching started at just at 2nd grade with my favorite teacher, Ms. Hall. I was always called on for help from my classmates, I was super advanced, and this is when I learned I was a leader. Through learning all this I became fun with helping others grasp the same information of learning that came easy for me. I would show them my way, listen to theirs, and allow them to decide what made it easier for them to retain information.

So just as a child I knew I would be a teacher, but the love for teaching children that has a greater challenge did not come until my childhood best friend gave birth to her autistic son. She was unsure on why her son wasn't speaking, unsure why he wanted to play alone so much, and just unsure as a mom what it was, she was doing wrong to delay his development. As I took days out to go visit and be of support with her, I learned that being patient and repetitive with the little guy, that I was doing exactly what he needed. He would start to mimic my behavior and repeat words and actions that I would take. He began to look forward to a routine of eating at a specific time, having his one teddy bear (everywhere), sleeping in a certain position of the bed, and reading the same book every night. This is when the love for autisms started to grow bigger.

My drive is the children, my focus is their growth, my outcome is who I put myself in front of these children day to day as their Model.
